SUPERSTITION MOUNTAIN: THE PROSPECTOR COURSE
“Superstition is the Poetry of Life” – Goethe
Off of U.S. Route 60, near State Route 88 is a course where most golfers dare not tread. In the shadows of the Superstition Mountains, where Apache legend tells of a gateway that leads straight to hell, is Superstition Mountain Golf Course.
Located in Golf Canyon, Arizona this spook-tack-ular golf course is widely praised as being the most spectacular and dramatic golf courses in the south-west. Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club boasts two Nicklaus designed golf courses, highlighted by jaw-dropping views in an old-world setting and if the rumors are true, somewhere near the The Lost Dutchman’s Gold Mine.
Superstition Mountain: The Prospector Course is located in Gold Canyon, Arizona, just 25 mountains from Phoenix and 45 minutes from Scottsdale.
The Prospector Course is one of two courses available to play. Both, the Prospector Course and the Lost Gold Course were designed by Jack Nicklaus.
Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club opened in 1998.
Tom Weiskopf, winner of 16 PGA Tour Titles once said, “Of all the majors around the world that I’ve played in, these are the finest surfaces I’ve ever played on,” about Superstition Mountain.
The course was ranked by Golfweek magazine as one of the “Top 100 Residential Courses.”
The site has hosted: 2002 Countrywide Tradition and was home of the LPGA Safeway International from 2004 to 2008.
